THE MISSION

Every visit you book gives a shelter dog a better chance.

Healing with Dogs KC has a nonprofit application in progress. The residential care you book funds free restorative skin and coat care for shelter dogs across the Kansas City metro. One booking. Two dogs helped.

THE NEED IN NUMBERS

The numbers make the mission impossible to ignore.

Shelter skin and coat care isn't cosmetic fluff. It can change whether a dog gets noticed, photographed with dignity, and seen as ready for home.

KC metro, June 2026

Waiting right now

600+

dogs are waiting for forever families.

That's hundreds of adoption photos, first impressions, and overlooked dogs competing for attention at once.

One-week surge

300+

pets entered a local KC shelter in one week.

In June 2026, local reporting described a crisis point as intake surged and the shelter reached capacity.

Every year

16,000+

animals move through any given KC shelter annually.

That volume means small care improvements can affect thousands of adoption chances across the metro.

WHY SKIN & COAT CARE

Shelter dogs with skin problems face a cruel math.

Shelter dogs with skin and coat problems face a cruel math: they photograph poorly, so they wait longer. And when they finally are adopted, unaddressed skin issues too often send them right back, returned within weeks by families who didn't know what they were taking on.

Restorative care breaks the cycle at both ends. Dogs look and feel like themselves in their adoption photos, go home faster and their new families inherit a dog whose skin is already on the mend.

HOW THE MODEL WORKS

Care for one dog. Change two lives.

01

You book care

Your dog gets restorative one-on-one care in the mobile spa.

02

Revenue funds shelter sessions

Proceeds fund free restorative sessions for KC shelter dogs, at no cost to the shelters.

03

Shelter dogs transform

Skin calms, coats recover, dogs photograph with dignity.

04

Adopted faster, home for good

Better first impressions mean faster adoptions and fewer returns.

There's no donation button here yet and that's on purpose. The best way to support the mission is to take beautiful care of your own dog.

OUR PROMISE

Transparency you can hold us to.

Healing with Dogs KC is young, and we'd rather show you honest commitments than inflated numbers.

We'll publish session counts and partner shelters right here as they happen.

Every shelter dog gets the same products and protocols as paying clients.

A volunteer board oversees the mission and its funds.

Before/after transformations will be shared with shelter permission.

MISSION FAQ

A few honest answers before you book.

Is my grooming payment a tax-deductible donation?

No — payments for services aren't donations, and Healing with Dogs KC is not yet a legal nonprofit. A nonprofit application is in progress; we'll clearly mark any direct-donation or tax-deductibility details once they are confirmed.

Which shelters do you work with?

Partnerships are being built across the KC metro; partners will be listed here as agreements finalize.

Does the mission affect the quality of my dog's care?

Never — the mission is funded by the business running well, so your dog getting exceptional care IS the model.

Can I donate directly or volunteer?

Not yet; booking, referring, and sharing are the best support today.
